Checking In

We’ve been having an amazing day! We rose fairly early, and Dear Husband and I put together a breakfast buffet for Elegante Mother and the two of us. It seemed to hit the spot; everyone left the table satisfied.
We gave the digital picture frame to EM and THAT was a hit! YES!! We explained that all my siblings could put together pictures of their families that could be played in this frame. *G* I can’t wait for EM to start nagging them about the pictures! (chuckling) Meanwhile, she is sitting, watching the pictures waiting to see who comes up next.
It’s rained heavily, and is still raining. So much water has accumulated at the south end of the herb garden that Mrs. Mallard is floating in the water. She could actually swim, if she didn’t paddle too deeply! *G* The wind is whipping the trees around, and it’s chilly. The wind seems to be from the northeast. The gutters are having trouble keeping up with the rain running off the roof. DH checked the sump pumps and one seems to be running a little slow, but we are still dry, and should continue to be so.
I’m going to fold some clothes and hang up most of our wardrobe, water the houseplants, and then I get to sew for several hours. I’m trying to get the blocks pieced for my second grand-daughter’s baby quilt. there’s nothing better than finishing a piecing project and getting it ready to be quilted! *S*
I hope you’re all having a great day. For those of you who are mothers, Happy Mother’s Day!

  1. It’s lovely to be back. I used to use GoogleReader as an RSS reader to know when you’d posted something new but for some mysterious reason I stopped receiving any posts from you on 11 April. I thought you’d stopped posting. Now I know differently. So everything you have posted subsequently is new to me. I have a wealth of your posts to read.
It sounds as if you had a good day yesterday. We were having all that rain basically from the beginning of the new year. Then the sun appeared last week. Hopefully it will also head in your direction too.

  2. Adele, I’m SO glad to see you posting. It might not be your RSS reader that caused the problem. ~T~ has upgraded our Moveable Type version recently. I wonder if tinkering on her part might have disconnected the RSS feed.
I’ve been here. I haven’t had anything terribly important to say, but I’ve been around. I understand going through a fallow period. Every now and then I just can’t find anything I care to write about. Lately, I’ve just been posting daily activities. I need to redirect my attention to the bigger picture, in the hope that my blog entries are more interesting for my readers.
At any rate, it’s good to see you again.*S*

  3. Hmmm, Certainly earlier this year I had huge problems at times even accessing your blog, let alone commenting on it. I thoughtit was me but it sounds as if it wasn’t. Oh well.
I do have to say that I much prefer your current format of black print on a white background. It is so much easier to read then your old one of black print on Umber.
Buffy, your posts ARE interesting. It’s just I’ve been boring.

  4. ~T~ has been absolutely snowed under. I think she’s working two jobs AND studying for certification on a computer course. When she finds a spare moment, she works on our blogs.
I’m glad that you are able to access the blog now. I suspect that Cop Car and Bogie probably prefer the current format to the skin that has the quilt in the background, as well, so I haven’t pushed to have the skin returned.
As for the issue of “boring,” I want you to know that I always enjoy your posts. It seems to me that you have a fresh way of looking at things, and I LOVE seeing pictures of your gardens, and hearing about your family. You’re NOT boring! I may be slow to read my friend’s blogs, but I really enjoy catching up with them, and that includes you!

  5. Thank you for your kind words Buffy. I think they may be enough to encourage me to go back to my blog. Not until tomorrow though. I made the mistake 2 hours ago of downloading Microsoft’s Service Pack 3 which took ages and when I had to restart my computer it didn’t work. At all. I’ve spent the last hour and a half trying to sort it out. Thank goodness for System Restore! All I want to do after that panic is to lie down in a darkened room (grin and sigh).
I have to admit that like CopCar and Bogie I prefer your current blog format to that of the quilt design. It’s much easier to read now.

  6. OMG! I don’t know anything about System Restore. I guess I have something else to learn, don’t I? I’ve been leaving the updates to our sons, who know infinitely more about computers than I do. Maybe that’s what saved me.
I hope everything is up and running now. Maybe you should add a cold compress to the bed and the dark room! *G*
