I needed a profile pic for Facebook and Twitter (deciding to give it a chance), so set up a quick self portrait this afternoon. By "quick," I mean:
• Moving the chair so I got nice north-facing window light on one side of my face
• Changing my shirt
• Running a brush through my hair
• Setting up the camera on the tripod and using the wireless remote to trip the shutter
• Changing my focus settings on the camera so I wouldn't be so blurry
• Putting a large reflector in front of me slightly to the left to raise the shadows up a bit and add catchlights to my eyes
• Trying all sorts of goofy poses to look serious-yet-approachable and not-as-fat as I am in real life
• Looking at them on the 'puter and doing minor processing, then resizing it down for Web use
• Posting it in all kinds of places!*

*It's also comes up on my wife's cell phone when I call now. :-)
I prefer being behind the camera a lot better!
If any of you guys are on Facebook or Twitter, let me know!

I'm on both, I'd like to add you as a friend. I like the new picture, it reminds me of something you would see on a dust jacket for the new book by a famous author.
I'm on Twitter! @shanlee
I am on both Twitter and Facebook but have yet to master either. My husband won't even bother trying, having stopped after MySpace. LOL, for twenty-somethings we sure are pathetic in the technology department.
I think the picture looks very nice. I had no clue what a mini-me your first born is!! The resemblance is uncanny.
I am sooo freaking eager to have kids so I can see who they look like for this precise reason! And you knowwwwww when we move to TX we're having you and the wifey take a family portrait (or fifty) for us. LOL, I'd even take another couple's portrait (I'm a woman and need an excuse to get fancied up being married to a mechanic and all! Ha!)
Good shot! I'm on facebook but not twitter.
Well, well. Look at you being all serious yet approachable :-) I am a facebooker, come say hi :-)
christine yubeta
