I don't want to work, I just want to bang on a drum all day

So the title isn't exactly true. I'm happy to be doing something for a steady (albeit small) paycheck. I go into the office two or three days a week and have the other days to focus on freelance writing and photography projects. As depressing as it was, the Freedom of not having a 9-5 job for about a month was liberating.

• I didn't have to wear pants all week long.
• The Price is Right!
• Jeopardy!
• Judge Joe Mathis!
• The People's Court!
• Scouring the Internet for paying jobs
• Feeling a bit sorry for myself

All this has been replaced by
• Having to actually shower, shave and wear pants more than one day a week!
• Actually being chained to a desk for hours at a time. Insanity!
• People looking for me to contribute something meaningful. Whaddupwiddat?
• Money in the bank, baby!

For the contract job I'm working, I had to fill out some forms, rename my firstborn and take a drug test. Easy peasy, of course. But it's funny ... at the clinic waiting for my "turn" I wondered how many other people really had to pee. I mean, that's the only preparation you're really expected to do ... produce some liquid gold up to the black line on the cup. I'll tell you, at the risk of TMI, that I'm an over-achiever when it comes to the black line. I always go above and beyond! Gross!

Happy holiday, people. Go fourth and celebrate. Just be careful not to end up looking like this:

Eyewear and teeth-wear like that can't come cheap.

Now that song is in my head. Thanks.

Baby Frogmen, Unite!

Cute pic. We may be headed to my beloved Big Bend for 4, count 'em, 4 days of fun...and a wee bit of driving.

We first felt we were being foolish to spend the bucks for gas that far, then decided our soul-hunger for the place might needed a little fix, and we'd just cut back some on the grocery bill, etc. the next week.

I am not sure a steady week-long diet of Cheerios and grilled cheese sandwiches are great for the body, but I know my soul will have a few days of smorgasboard as a result.

You have a safe Fourth!

I love Judge Joe Mathis! He lets the litigants talk and talk, and they usually end up digging their own graves, as he calmly points out and uses their own words to nail them.

Glad you're balancing! I LOVE not having a 9 - 5 job.

I had to take a drug test to work at the Pharmaceutical Company that I worked at for so many years.

I've never taken any drug, barely an aspirin, and I was so nervous. How's that for silly?

Congrats on being once again gainfully employed.

Happy 4th. And hilarious pic.

Why wasn't "General Hospital" on your list? I hate Carly. What a bitch. And Maxie is a slut. The rest are mobsters. It's your everyday slice of americana.
