What the heck is a cusp?
Good grief, the year flew by for us at Casa del T-bone. I'd like to meet someone who can honestly say 2007 was the slowest year they'd ever had, though (I know they are out there, and my heart goes out to them because usually a slow year is a bad year). Because usually it seems like everyone walks around for the first few weeks of a new year saying, "I can't believe it's 2008." The few checks we write will erroneously have "2007" listed as the date. We'll scratch our heads when asked what the date is. Classic, fairly ubiquitous stuff, I imagine. And it seems to happen every year.
Santa was good to us all. I'd tell you what the Cutlet and Riblet got, except that it was all a blur. Plus, with both of them having December birthdays, I can't really remember when they unwrapped their stuff. If you'd like to see it, just poke your head into our living room, which at any given moment has played host to a ton of fun things simultaneously, new and old. One of the highlights was the Cutlet getting his first bicycle for his birthday, which we took for his first spin yesterday afternoon at a nearby park (yes, I took photos; they're on my camera at home).
I got some photography equipment, some great books, an Apple wireless Mighty Mouse™, some shirts (you know you're an adult when gifts of clothing excite you), some gift cards (some of which have been used to buy more photo-related stuff) and a few other sundry niceties.
The Petite Filet got a new cell phone (a Crackberry™ Swerve™ or something like that), some pajamas (which she was real excited about), a topaz pendant (to represent our boys' December bdays) and some other sundry niceties.
But there were some downsides. A friend of ours has been in the hospital with a serious infection, expected to go home Monday. This was the first Christmas without my grandmothers, both of whom died late this year. But that's all pretty normal stuff, too. My grannies both died in their sleep and are now in much better places.
How were your holidays? And are you ready for 2008?

The start of every new year is like a freshly baked and uncut homemade pie for me.
Looks luscious, warm and inviting, with mouth-watering flavors yet to be tasted and savored.
May 2008 be your pie year!
Good year and good holidays for us. We saw dozens of family and extended family members this holiday season, and ended the year hosting a traditional New Year's Eve dinner. It's out turn every other year. The dinner was fantastic, and the company even better.
Our next (still holiday) function will be Friday night. Neither of our families had any time left before Christmas. Then there's only one small bit of Christmas, which hopefully will take place in January.
If I haven't done it before, and even if I have, I'd like to wish you and your family a wonderful 2008.

My holidays were wonderful. Happy 2008, T-bone!
the family invested in an xbox this Christmas so most of the gifts revolved around that, games, wifi adapter, etc. I got Kissology III and a movie theater gift card. Probably the coolest game was Rock Band Live for Xbox which comes with drum set, guitar and mic. The whole family can butcher Black Sabbath's Paranoid together.
Enjoy those years when the favorite present is a tricycle. They will soon give way to years when the most desired present is 300 dollars ;-)
My Christmas was WONDERFUL! New grandparents really show their appreciation to daughter-in-laws waddling around carrying their grandson! :-) I married into the best family. They are all so wonderful to me. They are all so excited!
Matt and I didn't do presents this year. That is how I knew I had finally become a mom. I remember hearing moms say that for years...they weren't getting their spouse anything..."only doing for the kids". I was always amazed by that. After buying new furniture, strollers, clothes, fatheads, football field area rugs (we have our priorities for the baby's room in order) I get it. Matt and I exchanged cards this year. I included a long list titled "WHY YOU WILL BE THE BEST DAD IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD". I really can't remember ever getting more emotional exchanging gifts in the past. Who knows, maybe it was the hormones.
Happy New one to you!
