Anybody aware of 80s glam bands will now have that song stuck in their heads for at least a day. Sorry! Or not! Ha!
We're rounding third base for the final stretch in the Petite Filet's pregnancy, the last one if all goes according to plan. The kiddo is scheduled to arrive Dec. 11, as I've said before, but gravity and fate may have its way a little early. That, of course, means I've got to work harder and faster to make the house at least sort of ready to accommodate Son No. 2, various houseguests and leave room for some sanity. Right now the space sanity would normally occupy is filled with baby crap, holiday decoration mess, the Cutlet's toys and an assortment of my very own hand and power tools. Yay!
So here are 10 things I would like to get done in the next few days (keep in mind, I work during the day like most of you's):
1. Finish hanging up Christmas lights on the outside of the house. It's only half-done, but that's because I need to buy more lights. We ditched our old ones because we weren't in the mood to roast our chestnuts over a house fire.
2. Find where this mythical "kitchen" place is in the house and see if it's a worthy place to prepare food.
3. Borrow a leaf-blower to push all the Cutlet's toys into a corner so we can walk through the house without stepping on a wayward train, car or action figure.
4. Crawl into the attic and find whatever baby stuff we already have so we'll know what else we need. Get a little freaked out, and maybe a bit turned on, when we pull the breast pump out of its box.
5. Cram even more garage-sale stuff into my shed. We were planning a possible sale the day after Thanksgiving (to lure shoppers who wanted to avoid the mall), but my parents' Golden Corral Holiday Celebration put the squash on those plans. Good thing? The squash was kinda tasty.
6. Devise yet another way to make an extra couple of bucks to make up for the shortfall that will occur in April when the Petite Filet's vacation/baby leave runs out.*
7. We have the baby's furniture all set up in his room. Now we just need a few finishing touches. If I had time, I was going to paint a fourth animal picture (the nursery has a jungle theme). Even if I had time I don't know what animal I'd paint. Suggestions?
8. Finish painting. Paint what, you ask? The Cutlet's closet, the guest room (almost done), wall trim in the living room, a shelf the PF wants for more of her junk and several items of clothing. The last is somewhat of an accident. At some point I'd like to finish painting the inside of the garage, but that's a back-burner kind of thing.
9. Lose more weight. See items 1-8 to learn why it's not been all that difficult. Who has time to eat?
10. Party like it's 2006. I'm about to become a Daddy two-times over, I have a wife who loves me (even though she shoots me death glares and mutters things about us never having marital "relations" again), a dog who thinks I hang the moon, and a roof over our heads. Most days, we even have food to eat! Where is that kitchen again?
*We are making headway in saving up money to make up for our coming budget shortfall. Extra work, scrupulous saving and bank robbery (kidding) have plumped up the ol' savings. I wouldn't expect to bring in much, but would anybody be interested in a special T-bone T-shirt? Coffee mug? Bumper sticker? Mouse pad? Autographed photo? I don't like asking for help without the helpers getting something in return. So, would-be helpers and friends, what do you want?

My own cowboy? Is that an option? He'll be dark haired, with a goatee, a hat and a truck. He'll like dogs and won't be completely against line dancing. Got anyone like that down there in Texas? Oh, did I mention he needs to be SINGLE?
It sounds like you're actually getting a whole lot done. Maybe you've forgotten from the first go-round, but all those things on the Honey-Do list seem so remarkably UNIMPORTANT the moment the baby arrives (or until PL regains her senses, give or take a week.)
Have fun, can't wait for the arrival!!
Exciting. I'd skip the lights and make it that much easier in a month when you havnet had any sleep (you won't have to take them down). What animals do you have so far, giraffe, lion, monkey how bout a gazelle? Hang in there both of you--very exciting.
I need someone to finish my paperwork. Know anything about IEP's? I don't pay much. I work for the school system. I have one HECK of a prize box with bouncy balls and paratroopers if you are interested.
I have always been partial to the giraffe. They are the prettiest animals! They have those long slender legs...pretty wide eyes...my vote is giraffe!
george clooney.
You really should find that kitchen.
I don't know what kind of animals you already have, but the Moose is a very popular animal in this house.
Have you done a monkey? Monkeys are quite popular with my young niece. Then again, so are spiders.
Hope all goes well for a smooth landing. Sending you some good VX (Jamaican Appleton Rum) to help make the landing even smoother for you! ;-)
Better add some naps to that list, m'boy.
What a special time!! Enjoy...and BREATHE!
Good job!
