Lost and found

Decided to go for a jog Sunday afternoon (third time in my new running shoes). I'm a morning runner, and any fellow joggers might know what I'm talking about. My body wakes up and is ready to run. However, allow time for my brain to catch up with my body's get-up-and-go-ness, and my brain says "No way!" Running later in the day doesn't agree with me much.

But I went anyway because I didn't wake up early enough to get out before church, I was getting a bit stiff and it had turned into a beautiful day. And I'm glad I did.

Was a fourth of the way into my run when I spotted something familiar on the ground. It was a $10 bill! I picked it up and was about to return to my pace when I saw something else familiar. A $5 bill! I did a quick check to make sure I hadn't missed a wayward $100 or $50, and was on my way. Bad thing? I realized I didn't have any pockets, so I had to carry my newfound fundage the entire time. But it was worth it, of course.

The highpoint of finding money remains the time I saw the wind blowing a $20 while ou walking our dog a few years ago. It was dark, and there were leaves but somehow I looked down at the right time. Years later, new dog, still never miss a walk (morning or night) because I enjoy the exercise and fresh air. And maybe I'm looking for another $20.

Other things I've found at various times include countless coins, but we've all lost and found those, I'm sure. I've found two cell phones, a purple pager, five pocket knives of varying sizes and quality. One time I was taking a walk in a light rain and a $1 bill floated by me (I took it home and let it dry. It spent well).

I've forgotten some of the stranger finds often come across during long-ago backcountry bicycle rides. Except maybe one that stands out because I was so freaked I never rode that route again. It was while I was in college, in a secluded area north of town where trash was piled in places. I'd stopped for a drink of water and looked down to see a garbage bag with brightly colored lingerie peeking out of it. And also a pair of falsies. And a freakin' dildo. I never rode from anywhere faster in my life, even with the many many dogs that have chased me as I've ridden. Yikes!

What jogged that memory a little was tonight's dog walk. We were heading down the home stretch and I noticed something balled up in the middle of the road. It looked like a black bra, but I didn't linger upon it long. No telling what else might have been lurking nearby.

My mom found a black g-string in her parking place last week. She said that at first, she thought it was an eye patch!

I already posted this once, but it seems to have disappeared. Sorry if you get it twice.

We walk on a school property on our standard evening walk, and Don has found lots of dimes and quarters by the bus lanes.

But I've got him beat. I was crossing a street in downtown Charleston, SC, and found a $50 dollar bill. And there was no one nearby to return it to. It spent well also.

I'm going to start walking with my head bent at all times! I never find anything fun!

:-)

Long-time, no blogging - but you and your (growing) family have been on my mind! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Gimme back my money! ;-)

Have a Happy Thanksgiving. It is not an issue here.

Hahahaha..who knows? Maybe it was money that you dropped yourself during the first loop around and then saw later? I've done that before..

I've found that putting bills in one or both of the socks I'm wearing works fine. I've never actually found money myself. Does a quarter count when I was six?
