So the people at the Petite Filet's office are wagering that the baby won't wait until Dec. 11 to make an appearance. The way she looks and feels, it might be best if he boogied on out a bit early. But the stuff I'm supposed to finish on the house will probably take a while, depending on how much I can get done on my day off tomorrow. Maybe I need to take a piece of the action and hope that if L'il Nipper does come early I can win the pot and hire somebody to paint the guest room. Fat chance.
Here's my list, in no particular order:
• Clean out and paint the guest bedroom, which used to be our home office.
• Install a new shower in the master bathroom.
• Buy a new oven (and let someone else install it).
• Clean out the nursery, get the furniture, assemble the furniture.
• Find the boxes of hand-me-down baby stuff in the attic, bring it down and let the PF sort it.
• Go through the house looking for various flotsam to jettison.
• Sort whatever is sellable and gear up for a yard sale.
• Have a yard sale.
• Finish doing a few things in the Cutlet's new room, including emptying the closet, painting it and installing new floor to match the room.
• Find another way to make a few extra bucks to help compensate for our April of Doom when the PF's paycheck drops to nothing because her maternity leave (paid vacation days) runs out.
• Fix one of the sinks in the hall bathroom.
• Relax.
• Enjoy the new baby.
• Try to be a good daddy.
• Mow the lawn.

Well, start by getting the clothes down from the attic. It will give PF something to do to feel more "prepared" (which was of critical importance when I started to feel like delivery was imminent.) Then, get the nursery ready. See above reasoning.
Buying an oven should be a fairly simple thing to do on the next rainy Saturday morning. Oh, new shower in the master bath should be a priority since PF will need it shortly after delivery. Yeah, do that one early, too.
But then the rest happens when the rest happens. When people come to visit the babe, put 'em to work! Want to hold the little guy? Paint a wall in the guest bedroom and you can hold him for an hour! Want to be here for his first diaper change? Help move boxes outside for the yard sale!!
Never, Never, NEVER wish a baby to come early. Never. I mean it.
My last one was 12 weeks early. I didn't wish it. She did it all on her own.
Stuff of nightmares and stuff I never want anyone else to have to go through.
I'm intimately familiar with how uncomfortable it is to be pregnant. It's the BOMB, compared to how you feel visiting your 1 lb. baby in the hospital, while she's hooked up to ventilators, and dealing with all that comes with THAT for months.
I'll, instead, offer up my best wishes for a timely, safe, painfree delivery for PF and a happy, healthy baby for you all.
Your list is freaking me out! I have a little more time than you, but it's deceptive since the holidays will throw things out of whack for me. And we still have to paint the nursery, put the crib together, buy a car seat, paint and buy some furniture and do one last reshuffling of stuff (we FINALLY got our new office put into shape). Oh my!!!
Good luck to you! Haven't had a chance to read you much lately -- and congrats that you have a month to go. Honey, look at that list -- you need a month (and 2 days) to get it all ready.
Congrats on the new car, too!
Take Care!
I'm with you in the yard sale department. We're moving Dec. 2...
Good luck with that baby. It won't be any time till he's here.
All the stuff on your list is important, but the most important is relax, enjoy the new baby, and try to be a good daddy. And I think you've already got at least one of those things conquered.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Cas
I sense an anxiety level worthy of grass mowing.
I predict...oh well, one date's as good as another, but how about the 8th?
Yep, that's my prediction... December 8.
"Flotsam to jettison..." Awesome.
