So, I forgot to tell you, but I rode something close to 10 miles last Thursday. Took the Petite Filet's vehicle in for some service, got there and was told it would be the rest of the day before it was done. Whuh? Fortunately, I had taken my bicycle with me because I'd figured I could pedal around for a few hours and get some got exermecising in. Well, it turned into a trip back home – all back roads with little traffice. And it was terrific!
I was tired-yet-engergized when I got home and got a whole lot of stuff done, such as re-roofing the house and doing laundry. Must get stranded with my bicycle more often.
Check that, however. On Saturday, took my bike up to WorkTown and rode it after doing a little work. Man, I thought to myself while riding, that last hill was a killer. Actually, it wasn't a killer – my tire was going flat. Of course, it would be another two miles before it got low enough for me to notice. And, of course, I had no cell phone and no way to fix it where I was. So my ride turned into a long walk back to my car. Some fellow bikers (although of the more serious variety ... road bikes and spandex) passed and asked if I was OK. That was nice. Of course, besides the flat, I was OK. So on I walked. Made mental notes to remind myself to repack my tire-patch kit and tire levers into my under-the-seat bag. Also reminded me to buy that mini air pump I've been pining for.
To prove this blog isn't becoming a one-trick Web-footed pony (namely about bicycling), I give you this list:
Things T-bone did on Sunday besides ride his bicycle
• Showered.
• Went to church.
• Used my table saw to cut new stair treads.
• Mowed the front yard.
• Ate lunch.
• Fired up the grill and cooked chicken, hot dogs and burgers.
• Swept the front porch and sidewalk, as well as the back patio.
• Watered the plants on the front porch.
• Walked the dog (twice).
• Updated the check book.
• Did the dishes.
• Put in a load of laundry.
• Watched "Desperate Homewreckers" and "Grey's Labatomy."
• Posted an entry on my blog.
• Didn't mention that I pumped up my flat tire to see if I could find the leak, but alas, the air is now holding. Will take a ride tomorrow morning (if it's not raining) to see if that will make it go flat once again.
Oh well.
