Those of us who live where cars grow on trees know that such a mass of traffic produces a bumper crop of another sort: stickers adorning most vehicles proclaiming everything from political or religious affiliations to support of troops to messages degrading other car brands. And lots in between. The past few years have brought us magnetic displays (a lesser commitment than stuck-on stickers) such as U.S. flags, ribbons supporting military personnel, breast-cancer awareness, etc. What typically gets my attention these days is a car with nothing stuck to it – a rare sight indeed. Are such messages effective if everyone's doing it?

More important, are the causes plastered on our cars reflective of what is stuck to our hearts (if it's one of those Jack in the Box antenna balls, I guess the cholesterol is stuck to our hearts)? I've seen those who proclaim to be fellow Christians drive like bats out of hell. I've seen a guy with an overly patriotic-themed back window throw a bag of fast food onto the road. I've seen minivans touting the achievements of children who are bouncing around inside unrestrained. I've seen "peace" stickers on agressively driven vehicles. And don't get me started on the ways people park.

Maybe every driver who doesn't live up to their adhesive proclamations needs another one: HIPOCRIT in big letters. But let those without sin cast the first stone, right? Maybe the messages are just aspirations, not something we're actually accountable for in our daily lives. What a shame.

There's a sticker on the back bumper of the Family Truckster that says "It's All Good." It's a little ironic because the decal is covering up minor damage sustained after a chance meeting with a Honda Accord I had several years ago. Life's what you make it.

Got anything stuck to your car? And do you mean what it represents?

I only had 1 window cling that was a big W with a slash through it. Then I thought I would do what was right and stop being AGAINST someone and be FOR someone else. I took it off, but when I went to the local democratic group in Plano, they did not have any Kerry stickers.

I guess I am just waiting to have a kid and put their name next to a soccer ball on the back window :)

I have a sticker from my church and the toll-free hotline number for the Postpartum Resource Center of TX. They are definitely both me. I won't put anything on my car that's not an accurate representation of myself.

Nope not a one. The last time I had a sticker on my car was in high school and I had one of thos funkengrooven stickers (my mom hated it), a sparkly kitty, and a daisy with a big smily face inside. But I was 17 driving a old junker and needed to dress it up. I like my cars plane these days.

There are NO stickers on my car, thank you. Why would I spend *ahem* good money on an expensive beast, only to put stickers on it? Not on my watch! :D Now, when hubby took over driving the old minivan, he did ask me to take off the "Breastfeeding.com" sticker *snicker* Can't imagine why he would want me to do that.... :P

Personally I like a car adorned with stickers and do-dads. It shows personality. When I see a car with nothing on it I think that the people inside are devoid of humor or imagination. But that's just me.

I have a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion sticker. A Ben Harper sticker (it's a snake) A small sticker of an octypus. I also have this neat silhouette sticker of a 50's pin-up girl.

So there.

:)

well let's see
I have a rainbow sticker, one that says "don't worry, my gay marriage won't ruin your straight divorce" and one proclaiming "I (rainbow heart) Dyke's"
yes, I'd have to say that it accurately represents who I am and what I stand for..
oh, and the one that I'm putting on after she get's her next bath "freedom of religion means ALL religions!"

I once saw a car with the following sticker: "My kid can beat up your honor student." I laughed in spite of myself.

The only stickers on our "mommy-van" are small US flags in the corner of the driver side and passenger side front windows. I would have to say that I'm definitely from the US so it is fitting. They are also in support of the deployed troops... of which I am a part now.

I have one sticker - a Texas flag.

The "big thing" here in Virginia Beach are vanity license plates. I'd say that easily 50% of all cars have them. I admit to getting one of those as well - N8TVTXN. (Yes, I am an annoying "homer". I miss Texas.) The fun/annoying thing to do while driving is trying to figure out what they all say and/or mean.

Great Topic T-Bone! I think sticker on vehicles express what your into, what you stand for, what you like, dislike, etc. I'm not exactly political, and I like to stay away from stickers that might piss someone off into roadrage or decide to shoot my ass at a stop light, so my stickers reflect my personality.

All my stickers are custom made are are silver glitter (which looks great on my tinted windows and matches my car) I have a large Butterfly that has flames on the inside of the wings on the top of my back window. Then I have "909 Princess" on the same window, but on the bottom corner of the drivers side. (909 is the area code I live in, which is ridiculed by people who live in the OC), and on the drivers side, back side window I have a girl riding a dirt bike. I love my stickers and plan on getting one more for the passengers side back side window. Only I'm not exactly sure what I want to put there yet.

well, i have a new car now. i would never dream of putting anyting on it...on purpose. i want it to be just like i drove it off the lot...forever. somthing tells me it won't...but i still like to believe that. getting smashed in the rear end the day after christmas opened my eyes a bit. (it is all fixed now...they had insurance...i didn't have to fork over 3,000 bucks...it's all good!)

however, on my old beast...that spoked when it rained...and had tempremental doors...i had froggingroovin with a frog on the back...holding a peace sign. i got the sitcker when they were "in"...and i love frogs...have collected them forever...so it just stayed on there...for way too long. everyone kept trying to make something perverse out of it. i never understood that.

No stickers here, not even a vanity plate. I'm very content to let the people who don't know me to continue doing so.

I've got "don't make me release the flying monkeys" (think Wizard of Oz, not Wayne's World) and "someone in texas loves me" (I am in Washington now).

I'm one of those blank cars. There really is nothing I'm interested in verbalizing out to perfect strangers. I never understand why people muck up their cars like that.

I have a PG (Pat Green) crop circle on my front window and a garder belt hanging from my mirror and have on order a sticker that says 'Jeep Girls Do It in the Mud'. I'm thinking the only thing I'm missing is a sticker that says 'Faithful reader of T-Bone'!

No stickers on my truck except the required by law inspection and road tax, and those are up to date so I guess that shows I'm a law abiding citizen. I drive like a bat out of hell.

Hmmm...
I used to have a star student sticker on mine but it fell off- now there's just the ding left from when the inlaws had it before us. I try not to drive like a demon possessed manic depressed mother- does that count?
