For you guys riding the Low-Carb Express, you may have missed the news that my favorite cereal in the world (which changes from week to week) has added three dried-fruit options. Yes, friends, Post’s Honey Bunches of Oats can now be bought with strawberries, bananas or peaches right in the box.
When I heard, I was pumped. When I tried a couple boxes (first strawberry, then peach), I was launched into orbit.
Not because it was good, but because it was like eating space food. Seems only fitting to eat such strange morsels with a tall glass of Tang. Then I had the urge to pee in a vacuum cleaner (which, thankfully I did not do). I did toss food across my living room to have fun with the zero gravity, but gravity was apparently in full effect. Anyone know how to get tomato stains off a ceiling fan?
This dried-fruit phenomenon has been with us for some time. Cheerios did it, as well as many others. Raisin bran doesn’t really count because the raisins don’t change when you add milk. The other dried fruit, however, left to float for a few minutes, takes on the consistency of real fresh fruit except for some stubborn pieces that still crunch like cardboard. The downside, as far as HB of O’s goes, is that the cereal itself will get soggy if left to sit too long.
Oh well. One small step for cereal, one giant leap for breakfast.

i have been living on special K with red berries for years. I think i should be an honorary astronaut.
We eat a cereal called Fruit Harvest (I think) and one of the varieties has 'astronaut' strawberries and bananas, and it's really good!! The strawberries add a sweetness and the bananas add sme crunch...the flakes are kinda worthless after awhile, but if you don't poke around, it can be a really good cereal..I happen to love freeze dried strawberries too...Fry's has an astronaut food section usually around the toy aisle and we always have to get me a couple bags...yummy...
