I'll share a little about my road trip sometime later this week, probably with a few photos. It wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped, but I'll get to that in a minute.
Wow! When did Texas move to the Pacific Northwest? We've had so much rain I'm considering trading my cowboy boots and barbecue for some Birkenstocks and a bowl of granola, and my pickup for a Subaru station wagon with a kayak/ski rack on top. Beer? Forget it! It's all Starbucks for me. Too much more precipitation and the Petite Filet will HAVE to let me get a canoe, or else I'll have no other means of getting to work.
In other news ...
I went to Home Depot to buy a new throne for our master bathroom. We had replaced the original 1964 Power Flusher XLT with a (literally) crappy low-flow cheapo model that clogged if you put an eyelash in the bowl. I'm not playing around with those anymore.
I bought an American Standard "Champion" Toilet. It claims I will be able to throw away my plunger and never jiggle the handle again (never=10-year warranty). I say that's a pretty stout claim, considering they've never met my extended family. But I'll give it a go. We also get a $25 rebate by mail from Home Depot for making the purchase (hurry, you must buy YOUR Champion potty by June 30).
Thankfully, the rain stopped long enough for me to load my new prize inside my truck in case it rained again (ya know, because toilets shouldn't get wet). I was loading the bowl in the back when I heard a faint-yet-disturbing sound that seemed like a metal cart was rolling toward me. It wasn't; it was rolling away. My toilet tank! Ahhhhhhhh! It was mere inches from a white sedan that was no match for the Champion toilet. I adeptly saved the car to drive another day.
Can you imagine the note I would have had to leave on the windshield? The crapper really would have hit the sedan that time!
In closing, let me tell you that you should never quit a job without giving notice. Especially if the beleagured editor you leave behind is already having a rough time. Anybody know a good reporter?

I'm dying laughing here, imagining you running through the parking lot chasing after that toilet tank.
So I hope that new Crapper 2000 flushes works out for you (and your extended family)!!
:o)
Nice save 'Champ'!
As for the job, I'll be down on Monday!
Note to self: do not buy cheap toilet
I don't know any reporters. Well, unless they blog.
Enjoy your new toidy.

FYI...i bought a brand new car (finally) and i'm getting married next month in vegas! yipee!
