I've thought about the passing of Tony Randall recently, and how sometimes celebrities whose spotlights have faded go into public pergatory: if they lived to entertain us, they must have died if they stopped (See "Whatever Happened to Mayor McCheese below). Randall may be best-known across the country as Felix Unger in the TV version of The Odd Couple.
The popular saying tells us that opposites attract (first we'd have to define "opposites" – which I won't do here today). Sometimes this is quite true ...
Odd couples:

• Red, white, blue (sum greater than the parts)

• Peanut butter, banana, sandwich (Elvis would disagree)
The list goes on here as well (same sentiment applies).
When it boils down to odd couples and trios, some common ground can be found in each case (even if only on a molecular level). The people – well, they're all people. In the words of Rodney King (pull him from your current-events file some time ago) paraphrased and made better in song lyric by Hank Williams Jr.: "Why can't we all just get a longneck?"
For those of you who are the opposite of beer drinkers, a "longneck" is a beer bottle characterized by a long neck. And that ends today's lesson.
Have a safe, happy and relaxing Memorial Day: many many servicemen and women have died to protect America by losing their lives fighting against the opposites, keeping freedom alive. Let's not forget them.
