The Petite Filet and the Cutlet arrived home safely on Sunday afternoon, which was also the PF’s birthday. She turned 18 with 12 years’ experience. Now I’m not the only one in our house with three decades of turning oxygen into carbon dioxide! Yippee!

For her special day, I gave her a few lame-o husbandly gifts:

• I painted the hallway while she was gone.
• After having stolen the tires from her bicycle (she was preggo at the time and wasn’t going to pedal in the forseeable future) to put on my own bike, I finally got around to replacing them.
• I bought her one of those wooden pub-style mirrors she’d been wanting for the living room.
• I bought her a picture-frame set to start our display of family photos in the newly painted hallway.
• I remembered to pick them up from the airport (although I was a bit late. Oops!).

We went out to dinner that night (Mexican) and ate way too much on top of indulging in margaritas (just one each), lotsa food in the main course, and then dessert. Stuffed silly, we groaned all the way home and collapsed, full and exhausted. Of course, not until another “gift” was exchanged (what ever am I talking about?).

So glad they are home.

Now here’s a short list of things I did while they were gone but was too embarrassed to mention before:

• Watched Finding Nemo. Twice.
• Watched The Best of Elmo.
• Ate crackers in my underwear.
• Fell asleep watching a rather lame movie one night, to awaken later to the Girls Gone Wild infomercial. I may regret mentioning that on my blog, but whatever drives traffic!
• Sang along with the radio while I put new tires on the PF’s bicycle.
• Talked to the dog a lot, sometimes about politics.

Hope everyone’s having a great week so far. Today is already Wednesday. Where does the time go?

Time goes by slowly when you are sick. But I am glad to hear your family is united again. I shamelessly watch Nemo every chance I get! :)

we store a lot of time up in the UK. we've got huge silos full of it.

at some point we'll sell it back to the world, but for now we're in squirrelling mode, waiting for the market to rise.

You give the most awesome birthday gifts....I would have been satisfied with the Mexican dinner.

Great gift list.

I'm glad your family's back together again. Have a great week

Whatever WERE you talking about? Hmmm? Glad you have somebody besides the dog to discuss politics with now. Ask the Cutlet what his views are on the State of the Union address, will ya? Hee.

At my tender age, Mexican food late in the evening is not exactly an aphrodisiac. I have to stop at the Margarita! LOL

those are sweet gifts. especially the last one :)
sounds like you had a grand old time while the fam was gone.

they sure go away a lot... but it's always with such a happy return to someone happy to see them back. it's so sweet. wish the pf a happy belated for me! i saig hullo to the big apple for you. met some bloggers there, too. ...interesting.

Talking to the dog about politics is kind of sad, don't you think? But in a cute way ;-)

On the meeting bloggers note - I sit beside one of my favourite bloggers at BritLit. Makes the world of blogdom kind of small, doesn't it?

You are so cute! And I love Finding Nemo!

Sounds like a great birthday for the PF-I like 18 with 12 years experience- my grandma told my Mom on my last birthday she'd have to stop being 29, now! That's good, because I'm hanging in there for awhile.

Thanks for the reminder to watch Nemo again tonight. Mine! Mine-mine-mine!

i can TOTALLY picture you eating cracking in your underwear and watching Elmo!

Finding Nemo wasn't bad....I only saw it once though.

Eating in underwear is cool.

Nuthin' says lovin' like painting and watching the walls dry! ;)

Were you wearing your "Roo's?"
