Caught Like A Rabbit in a Hole

| | Comments (20)

If you haven't heard by now, you must have been stuck inside a hole in the ground. Saddam Hussein was captured by U.S. troops on Saturday.

Thousands of innoncent people died at the hands of the evil dictator, and his reign was like a giant thumb keeping the Iraqis down. There is very little humor in the situation, as many American and coalition forces have died in the conflict as well. Hussein's capture is certainly a victory, but far from an end to the dying that is inevitably required to spread democracy (or any new type of political system, for that matter).

My heart goes out to the families whose loved ones are helping fight for freedom, no matter how it is being done, and to those whose loved ones have passed to the great beyond. May most of their returns be welcomed by warm receptions and parades, rather than heralded by somber, rectangular boxes draped with the red, white and blue. God bless America.

On a lighter note (because there can be SOME humor found in most situations):

1. Iraqis in celebration are among the world's worst dancers.
2. I've heard CBS is considering a Survivor: Evil Dictators On The Run for the Fall 2005 lineup. After all, Saddam was found with $750,000 in American money when captured (that's close to the $1 million prize money sole Survivors win).
3. Didn't Saddam Hussein look kind of like a washed-up mall Santa before they let him shave?
4. Living underground must be good for one's complexion. The "historical" photo of Saddam Hussein wearing the beret also captured some of his skin imperfections. The post-capture post-Gillette image has him looking rested with beautiful, smooth skin.
5. The capture will be fodder for the late-night talksters and water-cooler hipsters for weeks. I am not savvy enough to anticipate the punchlines, but you know when a nasty guy is caught like a rabbit in a hole, there's bound to me some laughter involved.

Hope your weekend is great! I'm enjoying my new work schedule, which has me working 4 and 1/2 days a week. I'm off Mondays, too. Suh-weet!

I heartily agree with you! Although this is a MAJOR victory, we have to keep our eye on the ball. My prayers are with the troops, their families, our country and of course our President.

So good to hear. And thanks for lightening the mood a little. This is a good day. And I hope there are many more to come.

I too was surprised this morning. Good for us. We finally win. Goodbye Democrats.

Yeah, J was commenting on how maybe Sadam is Santa, and that's how he balances the good with the evil...you know...just trying to grow out the beard in time...but i guess we'll all know the truth in a little over a week!

YAY, happiness to finally have some good news from the war front, to be back bloggin', and to hear T-Bone's take on it!!!
Happy Holidays

Yeah, I thought he looked like Evil Santa, too. Kinda like you get up early on Christmas morning so you can avoid seeing what he left in your stocking, huh? ;0)

In any event, it'll be difficult for his supporters to get any satisfaction out of that capture. After all that- evil dictator of Iraq for years, then he totally just rolled over.

I love it when things work out in such a black and white way, you know? It just emphasizes who'se on the right side, if you ask me.

Many Brits and Aussie's died too..

and peace-keepers...

where's Osama though? What happened to that cause?

Whoa, you're off on Mondays? Wow..how can I interview for a job working for you??

Suh-weet! I wish I could have the schedule.

I'm glad to hear your new job is going already going so well. I'll bet you'll have some great stories in the future.

Hope your Monday off was a nice one. Now get back to work....

I do not share your views on that, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

Even though you can't read my blog anymore, I still visit. What a gal. I actually can't wait for your cookbook. :)

you will love being off on monday! everyone else is at work...it totally rules. the only people at the grocery store will be little old retired people and you!

John finally got your site linked to mine. Now I have you on speed dial!

Just wondering, did I miss cause for celebration, did they actually find the WMD they were after? or just the old guy?

They just found the old guy. And guess what, the terrorism still continues. How ironic is that? Life isn't quite as simple as Bush and his cronies make it out to be.

The new job sounds great! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I am amazed by the American forces who found and captured Saddam Hussien. Not amazed that they caught him, but just that they didn't shoot anyone, (not even their own!). So, big up to whichever regiment, brigade or whatever that was.

The American army killed my former next-door neighbour *twice* (in theory, war games, practicing) whilst he was a chaplain with the British army, hence the comment about 'friendly fire'. It's a big problem for the American forces.

Wow, Tex must really be busy these days.

there's one topic i won't talk about.. and that's politics...

okay there are two topics i won't talk about.. politics and religion...

no, there are three topics i won't talk about.. polics, religion, and sports...

nonono, there are four topics i won't talk about.. ah hell i'll just keep my mouth shut..

;)
