I was late for work today and the reason made me nothing but happy.

The Cutlet was daddy-centered this morning for some reason. He followed me all over the house, kept wanting to play catch (his new use for his pacifier) and wanting to be held. He climbed up into my lap while I put on my shoes. It was cute, and effective. It made me slow down.

Slow is better because:

1. I notice things around me in a new light: a bright one.
2. There's really no reason for me to rush around. Where's the fire, chief?
3. I prioritize more efficiently because slowness means not getting as much done.
4. I can devote more time to the things important to me.
5. There's more and better time for the people I love.
6. I'm less likely to be involved in a car accident.*
7. Flowers smell better, food tastes better and I'm at less risk for an ulcer.
8. I do a better job when I'm not hurried.
9. Anything worth doing is worth doing well, enjoying the journey and basking in the destination.
10. Time stops for no man, so I try to enjoy the time on Earth I've been given. Once it's gone, it's gone.

*Side trip: Not all car accidents are caused by excessive speed, but an old statistic I came across says most two-vehicle wrecks are caused by more than one mistake. Thus, statistically, doing our part to be within the legal limit reduces our chances for another mistake (sometimes someone else's) to cause trouble. I'm often amazed at why people who have fancy, expensive cars drive so fast (slow down and enjoy them, yo!). It should be those of us in clunkers who want to get where we're going and bail out.

What are you making time for this week?

It's probably "time" for me to lay off the Cutlet pictures, too, isn't it? :-)

Blogrolling really messed everyone up today. It's amusing to read some of the reactions.

Time for Sleep!! Must...sleep...

That is so awesome!!! Cutlet is just way too cute, and I think it is great Daddy slowed down and spent some time with him like that! :)

I am making more time on getting stuff ready for Christmas. I am making a lot of things this year, not because I cannot afford things but because I think people will like it. Yay!

I have to remind myself alot to slow down. I think life is much more enjoyable at a snail's pace, but apparently the rest of Houston doesn't agree.

Don't you DARE stop the Cutlet pictures...he makes me feel all gooey inside.

:)

Keep the Cutlet pictures coming - we all love them! As for time, I have no time to think about time...

My wife and I are making time to get Christmas shopping all knocked out before Thanksgiving hits!!!

Cool pics. I have no children myself, not that I never want any, but just that I am of the opinion that I am definitely NOT ready to be a parent. I enjoy my nights out at Champp's in Uptown Park, my evenings at Catbird's and the Front Porch Pub, and dancing at Salsa bars. When I can slow down a bit, I'm there. I just hope I can have the dedication, the love, and the spirit that so many blogging moms and dads exhibit.

In the meantime, keep the pics coming, I'll just live vicariously through ya until happy hour rolls around... ;)

the cutlet is a beautiful baby, and what a beautiful post. you're a wonderful dad. that made me feel all warm and fuzzy :) i think i heard my biological clock tick...

I am making time to make a baby blanket for someone (my cousin's having her first baby this month)....I love to slow down and take on a task where I work with my hands. I don't even care if it takes forever.

Your baby is so cute. Definitely keep the pictured coming!

Keep posting pictures! He's a doll. Maybe he'd like to come read Busy Baby's Blog: (http://busymom.net/baby) sometime. They could be e-pals.

I have to make time to post pics from my trip to Aruba. The first (my favourite) is up!

If there is a more beautiful baby, I have yet to meet him/her.

I'm taking time out to respond to several emails sent out of the blue and all at once by several old, good friends.

Great pics of the cutlet the last three posts. He's gonna be a ladies man.

What could be more worthwhile?

You've discovered the secret (Have I told you that you are a smart man lately?) :-)

I'm making time for others, and for appreciating all of God's gifts. (O.K. - so I'm having to do a little "creative financing" this month...)

My cat follows me around in the morning looking cute and playful and trying to cuddle. It's hard not to be late.

I suspect with a baby even half as cute as the Cutlet I would never make it out of the house.

I need to add stay at home mom to the wish list. :-)
