What glorious weather we had this weekend in Dallas/Fort Worth! We probably don’t deserve such raging beauty, endless sunshine, warm-but-not-hot temperatures and slight, lilting breezes. But who cares? Saturday was wonderful, but mostly because it was Father-Son Day at Casa del T-bone while the Petite Filet attended a women’s conference at church.
I’ll spare you tales of diapers, naps and playing with age-appropriate toys. I won’t sing to you some of the Sesame Street songs we listened to. I won’t go into great detail about pushing the Cutlet around the neighborhood in his stroller, getting some much-needed Vitamin D Therapy and Outside Air. You don’t want to hear about the clumps of dog hair he almost ate. Or the few times his little tummy got upset and he refunded some of his breakfast. Or the times he laughed out loud – a perfect melody only God could create.
No, instead, I’ll offer you a few haikus about my weekend:
Parenting is fun
Not for everyone out there
I wouldn’t trade it
Neighbors getting loud
Noise ordinance not enforced
Drunk party won’t end
Salaried worker
Takes work home to finish it
Man, that really sucked
Dusty bicycle
Yearning to be ridden fast
Watch out for potholes
State Fair comes to close
Unhealthy food digesting
Tilt-A-Whirl silenced
Dallas Cowboys win?
Hope they can score victory
When they play the Cubs
Dinner project rolls
Gimme your fave recipes
Contest soon over
Monday here again
Don’t fret, Internet People
Bliss back in five days

Sesame Street songs are good, but Veggie Tales are better. Show the love for Silly Songs.
It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! (Ahhh - I remember those few days of the year when everything was perfect - weatherwise.)
But was he laughing with you or AT you? Forget it -- doesn't really matter. Fun anyway you look at it.
Wouldn't it be nice to have bliss all week?
I'm jealous of your nice weather! It rained off and on this weekend in NY; and now it's in the 40s outside, but pretty cold inside. I think the air conditioning is still on in my office.
i have to scan in my apple crisp recipe ...
here's one ...
stuff french toast ala eelnahs
1 loaf of french bread sliced into 10 slices
french toast batter
3 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
dash of vanilla
filling
bar of cream cheese
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/4 cup powered sugar
2 tablespoons of favorite jam
1 cup of favorite berries
mix batter, dip bread, brown on top of the stove in a pan coated with butter or pam
mix filling
in a pam greased 9x13 pan, put 5 slices of bread down ... put filling ontop of bread, then put slice ontop of bread.
broil for 4-6 mins until brown on top.
sprinkle powered sugar on top!
enjoy!
oops put a dash of cinnamon in the batter mix
that cutlet sure is a lucky little guy. do you know how many kids aren't so lucky? it blows...makes me want to kill parents...kill...kill...kill i say!! parents who shake their kids when they are just babies...these parents are at the top of my @*#@ list today. sorry...just venting. but that cutlet sure is lucky. tell him i said so.
Being a parent is definately the best gift God could of given us as humans. I wouldn't trade it for the world, because my world would crumble with out my children. I'm just glad the poopy diaper stage is now over!
a fond 'father-son' memory i have is when my dad passed on his addiction for fast cars to me.
we were in his old nova, which was probably louder than it was quick, and i was sitting in my mom's lap (this was back in the wild west known as the 70s).
he was driving fast (as he was prone to do in those heady days) and mom was screaming "slow down you'll kill us all".. i was screaming "faster daddy ,faster!!".
needless to say dad listened to the real voice of reason and gunned it for all that poor car had to offer..
i still giggle like a school girl at the sound of a high powered car..
My long weekend was good too....maybe a bit too much rum, but what the hell...we live once.
Back to work this morning.
