Office Space: Saturday Edition

| | Comments (5)

Sometimes I think getting ready to take a vacation is more work than simply working 52 weeks a year. When you are important (or rather, nobody else can or wants to do your job), you've got to tie up your loose ends before you take a week off.

So I had to go into the office Saturday and rebuild three pages of my current project. Among other things, of course. A few observations:

1. One other person in my department worked on Saturday. We still ran over each other because of blind spots in the cube farm.

2. Bliss is a silent phone, an e-mail inbox that remains empty, and being able to turn up the stereo a notch.

3. Delegating authority is easier when the delegatees aren't around to complain. There will be a few surprises when my team gets back to work on Monday. Sorry, ladies.

4. Working on a Saturday, especially a pretty one, sucks. But then again, I've got no windows, so what did I know?

5. Never work hungry on a Saturday. I had to forrage around lunchtime and found only a basket of leftover fast-food croutons. This was not a good thing.

Happy weekend, all! No more work-work (only homework) for me until Monday, Oct. 6. Yeeeeee-haw!!

Have a great vaca!!!

Working on Saturday does suck, but at least you get to follow it with a vacation. Have a wonderful week off.

Happy holiday. May it be filled with frolicking fun!!!

Vacation - yay! Have fun!

happy vacation.. or something...

my job doesn't allow vacation, they figure if you have free days you'll try to find a new job. they want to keep a tight knit family, sort of like the mafia.. only with a datacenter..
