Updating yesterday’s post on the thief.
The only transaction the identity-stealing thief got to go through was a charge for $200 ($200 even, that is bizarre) at a Sears in Independence, Missouri. An attempted charge at Home Depot (location unknown) for $354.54 was declined, and that is what alerted MasterCard’s security division. Thankful for that!
The card has been canceled and we have the affidavit to contest the charge. Because it is a check card/debit card, we must wait until the charge registers with our bank (takes 3-4 days) to contest the fraud. Here’s to hoping all our checks written for bills don’t clear at the same time.
My advice (supported by others’ comments, thanks!), is to guard all your personal information, especially that which you carry around or put to good use. Be careful where you leave your purses and wallets, and be careful what you carry in them. And use cash whenever possible. Cash is the new money!
On a much lighter and happier note, but still about credit ...
Check it out! A stylin’ blog. Thank you once again, T, for a spot on your server and for setting me up. Plus, for answering all my questions, good and bad. I am enjoying my new Internet home very much already.
The template design is one that another queen of blogland designed for me. Thank you, Candy, for the spiffy look! It rocks! Now it will be harder for readers to confuse me with other bloggers who use that dark Blogger template.
I’m so tickled by all of it, I wrote a haiku:
Free from Blogger woe
And comments that never worked
Sizzle for T-bone
Feel free to contribute your own poetry, prose or corny knock-knock jokes in the space provided. And Happier Thursday, everyone!

Good luck on that last charge being taken care. MC is a good company, as is our VISA company. Thank goodness they pay attention to our spending habits. Love the new look. Very crisp and good on my eyes.
Bastard thieves. The karma police will get them.
Like the new look, again.
Glad to see that Credit Card companies are running good fraud programs. YAY!
I thought I lost my wallet on Sunday/Monday and was FREAKED...
Amex and Citibank made it so easy to cancel and reissue cards, it was no big deal... YAY!
But sounds like someone got your account number through some sneaky means... SUCKS!
That kind of crap puts us all at risk...
i love love love your new t-bone digs! i am going to update my darn link as soon as i'm done with this comment. wahoo!
now, how did they get a hold of your card? (am i just mercilessly out of the loop here?) there's nothing more violating than knowing someone went out in to the world and spent your money and signed your name. the nerve! that's how i felt when some thief stole my check card and spent $500 in a heartbeat. thank god my bank was on the ball, too. just such a pain in the ass. another trial to suffer and get through.
Wow! Check out this new layout fit for a blogstar! That's what you are T-Boner, a Blogstar!
Wowza! Your new design is AWESOME!
Makes me want to get on the ball and move mine out of bloggerland.
Your blog looks too cool - Candy gets major kudos from me!
People are rat bastards, yes they are
I'm starting to become a fiend when it comes to my bank card...elbowing people for more space.
Me here
you ================>there
Nice digs. "Georgia" is my font of choice for personal stuff.
As for your crisis, I'm glad it didn't become an out-of-control situation.
Oh, and I think I have ALL of my friends now using the term "rat bastard".
You know, because you care and everything...
Nice that you cleared the crap up without too much of a hassle.
I like the beige background.
What crappy luck! I had a similar situation happen....but it was with my check book....and they spent thousands. It was a nightmare to fix! You may not be able to find the guys who did it...but you have an army of people on your side! Your new little place here rocks! Look forward to checking it out further when more time permits.
I finally updated my link. Great design! Envy continues.
My mom recently had her checkbook stolen, and her lazy-ass bank hasn't done a thing. She has to go every time to the store with a fraud form. They are using the checks one by one, and nobody is doing much to stop them.
You are lucky you have a good bank!
200 $ even? what's this guy buying? do they give you a list? that wouldn be interesting to read, to try to guess what kind of idiot he really is. like what if he bought 30 squirtguns?
cool new site btw. now we ain't twins anymore!
I like the spiffy new digs.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear.
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.
Fuzzy wasn't very fuzzy, was he?
Creativity isn't my strong point (duh), but I thought I'd throw in a useless bit to my comment.
My mother always said those who attempt to cast suspicion on others are probably the guilty ones. And with your sense of Ha-Ha, maybe she was right.
I've had my credit cards used a few times by others. Luckily for small amounts and luckily the credit card companies believed me. (I've never been to the Bronx, let alone bought something at a service station there!)
More recently someone used my name and social security number to open a cell phone account. I only found out about it 6 months later when the $300 bill wasn't paid. The police are serious about the situation, but serious doesn't mean they're doing anything about it.
