though you’ll never know

the person this goes out to will never see it…
today is my oldest son’s birthday. yes, The Dude is 12 today…(and I seriously need to update my album)
12 years ago today, he didn’t come into the world kicking and screaming…he cried once, then started looking around to take it all in…he still does that…
He’s the oldest…like I am, and even though he’s always been ‘daddy’s boy’, he holds a very special place in my heart…with his questions that I don’t always know how to answer, his constant striving to be perfect, and do everything “exactly right”, so he has to be pushed to take a few chances with things he’s not sure if he can do (because you never know unless you try) and his memory that still amazes me…even though I’ve known him all his life…
He’s the one that can tell you about the day’s his brothers were born…about the fights his parents had, and how much better things are now that they don’t live together…he’s the child that saw to much, at to young, yet still, in his own way, knew how to deal with it.
I love you my son…you may get older, but don’t grow up to fast…

I Hope You Dance
Lee Ann Womack
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances but they’re worth takin’,
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth makin’,
Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

  1. ~t~, you are a special woman, congratulations to you on the birthday of your son. He carries you with him. And you deserve a huge hug today for being such a wonderful, loving mother.
    This is your day, too!

  2. That was very sweet sis and I will try to make sure he sees it. No one doubts how much you love those boys.
