I have been bombarded with phone calls tonight...(and no Jet, not only from you)
it seems that the EX, in his infinite 'child rearing' wisdom, has decided I don't know what the FUCK I'm doing.
now mind you, until the last 2 years I was the ONLY one that took care of the children when they were sick, often times being sick myself while doing so, but does he remember this? oh hell no!
for some reason he now seems to think that he's the 'be all, end all' of illness in children.
Let's start from the beginning shall we?
My youngest started running a fever Sunday, while he had them out of town, now mind you they still went to work with him (outside, I might add) but this was a low grade fever that my middle one had had the week before, it has no other symptoms and it didn't really slow them down that much for that long!
so we come to last night, he decided he wants to stay with mama, not a problem, so I go get him, he said he had just given him some medicine and that his fever had been about 101.3 (or thereabouts)
so last night, his fever breaks, I get 2 phone calls this morning asking how he is etc...he's fine! eating like a horse and cool as a cucumber...
we run a few errands today, the whole time we're gone I make sure to keep an eye on him, asking him how he's feeling etc, he keeps telling me he feels good.
we pick up his brothers and cousins from school and RIGHT BEFORE I we did that I felt of his head, still cool, we take the kids over to his dad's house and he said he wants to stay there and play with them...not a problem
BTW, he still has not had any medicine, or NEEDED any medicine all day.
I get a call, about 20 min after getting home, saying his fever is 100.7 and when was the last time I gave him anything?
WHAT???
so now, my phone has been ringing off the hook tonight because according to him "if he had been checked today, I'm sure he would have been given medicine"
so obviously insinuating that I did/do not take proper care of my kids? and that I'm not concerned (yes he actually asked me that!)
If I thought I had reason to be concerned, I would be...however I "know" I taught him better than this, and that there is nothing seriously wrong, it just needs to run its course, and he needs to get over the fact that we are NOT married anymore and I'm NOT going to come running to his aid anytime he wants me to...
Be careful what you wish for Jr. your getting a small taste of it now, enjoy it while it lasts *weg*

I leave you with this...
Fever in Children...A Blessing in Disguise

and this excerpt, the rest can be read at the site...

Children often tolerate fevers quite well, although high temperatures may cause parents a great deal of concern. Still, it's best to be guided more by how your child acts than by any particular temperature. If your child has a fever but is responsive, drinking plenty of fluids and wants to play, there's probably no cause for alarm.

Call your doctor if your child is listless or irritable, vomits or has a severe headache or stomachache. But don't treat low-grade fevers (generally an oral temperature between 99 F and 101 F) with any medications unless advised by your doctor.

ok, I took it jet

high maintenance?

| | Comments (3)

I received this test in my in-box this morning, and well I just had to take it!
Are you high maintenance?

and for those just DYING to know...here are my results *g*

Material Upkeep

Maybe you're self-sufficient and practical, or maybe you're just slightly unkempt. Either way, you tend to think that top-of-the-line products are unnecessary and excessive, and you don't indulge yourself with more than you need. We think it's safe to say that you don't put much emphasis on the how trendy or high-quality your products and possessions are. You're a firm believer in the philosophy of "less is more."

Emotional Upkeep

Okay, you're either awfully secure in your relationships, or you have very low standards. (actually they are very high, but I would have to agree with the I'm secure part *s*) Sure, it's admirable that you don't need your significant other to give you constant reassurance of his/her feelings, verbally or with actions. But you should be sure that you're keeping quiet for the right reasons. Do you think you don't deserve respect and attention? If not, you probably don't think highly enough of yourself. On the other hand, if you are truly satisfied with your relationship and don't have any unfulfilled expectations, then congratulations — your low-maintenance attitude probably makes both you and your partner very happy!

Personal Upkeep

It's a safe bet that you don't spend much time grooming yourself. Your lack of concern about your appearance means you're either physically blessed or a little messy. The fact that you don't always feel like you have to look your best could be the result of either a super-healthy level of self-confidence or a disregard for others' opinions. Either way, it's no skin off your nose if you're happy with how you look.

ok, on the last one, I'm not thrilled but I don't feel the need to do my makeup to check the mail (or go to the store...or the laundramat...or, well you get the picture!)

uhoh

well, finally got my MT upgraded, however I f*^$#@ up and lost my smilie icons...and for some reason when I try to fix it I get errors all over the place :angry
I did however, get this blog finished (finally, only been supposed to do it for months now! and I love the new default templates in the latest version of MT) for those of you not regular readers of her site, this is KG and Craig's son.

and I think I finally have my layout the way I want it...thank you all for the comments on the new look, (but it's staying in spite of those! LOL) cause, well >I< like it, and more important...SHE likes it! (and I do have my priorities!)

so now I'm off to do a few more blogs, if this keeps up I'm going to make another credit button :lol

what was I thinking?

| | Comments (9)

please forgive the screwyness around here for a bit while I test this new layout...or delete my blog entirely...:angry

redesign?

| | Comments (5)

I don't know what I'm thinking, but after having redone some friends sites I got the wild hair up my a** to redo my site...and of course now it's not working the way I want it to!!! :angry
I WILL get this to work...

borrowed from A N A R C H T I C A

T, your unconscious mind is driven most by Imagination

This means you have a deep desire to use innovative ideas to enhance your life and influence the world around you. This drive influences you far more than you may realize on a conscious level.

Your need to be innovative drives how you look at new opportunities and the kinds of experiences in life you choose to have. On an unconscious level, the reason you may be so driven by imagination is your fear of destruction, the opposite of creation. When you are unable to create due to restrictions imposed by your environment or even ones you unwittingly impose on yourself, do you feel trapped or confined? You may find these feelings of unease only get better when you find another outlet for your imagination.

With such a strong creative orientation, you are willing to entertain a broad spectrum of ideas at any given time. The world is a fuller, richer place because you can contribute new ideas to any experience. Your natural curiosity inspires those around you and encourages them to come up with ideas they wouldn't have thought of without your help.

Though your unconscious mind is driven most strongly by Imagination, there is much more to who you are at your core.

responsible?

| | Comments (4)

What ever happened to responsibility?
Maybe it was how I was raised, or possibly I'm just being overly simplistic, but IMHO I think we should be considered (with certain exceptions) responsible for our own actions....and in the case of minors, the PARENT is responsible for the child and what they allow that child to do.

I had a conversation with a co-worker the other morning, that in a way relates to this. We were discussing a mutual acquaintance and couldn't believe he had quit his job with the state, it was in the field his degree was in, great money and benefits, not to mention he's 25 and married with 2 kids. Oh, did I mention he also lives with his grandpa on property that belongs to his family? So basically his only real bill is his car payment. This amazes me on so many levels, mainly due to being on my own since 17 and never liking to feel I "owed" anyone for anything...but I'm getting off track here a bit...

Fast Forward to last night, I get to work and find out that 2 mothers have been calling up there looking for their daughters, who it seems have been spending time with several members of a work crew that have been staying with us. These girls are 17, which I realize in some states is legal, however we're not one of them. Then I found out that apparently 2 other girls have also been doing the same (all 4 are related) these other to are 14 and 15!!!
Now I'm not trying to excuse what these men may or may not have been doing with said teenagers (personally I don't get what grown men could see in such young girls) however, what i want to know is where the HELL are their parents in all this??? Do you not know what your child is doing or where they are when they leave the house? And when you do get your head out of the sand don't call someone else and go on about it like it's their fault, we don't get paid to be your babysitter up here, that's your job!!

Sorry for this rant folks, but to top all this off is, apparently after this daughter got home, the mother had her call up here and ask for one of the guys rooms, so we transfered her, she (the mother) called back up and blasted my co-worker (who was still here) and said "I don't want you to transfer my daughter to his room anymore."
Sorry lady, we don't screen our guests phone calls, I suggest if you don't want her talking to him, pull the plug on her!
It is your house, and you are the one responsible for her...arn't you? :angry

better late than never

I had such plans for a 'new years' post...well as you can see that didn't happen :lol and I was even off work that night!
my 'to do' list is growing by leaps and bounds, only problem is I don't seem to be making much headway into it...since the kids have been out of school I've become a vegetable it seems, and sleeping all day! oh well, that will stop on Monday when they go back :sad
I'm so psyched about this year, I expect great things from it, so much to look forward to...and so much I want to talk about here but not yet...
looking forward to getting us [here] back up and running again also, just to decide what exactly we want to do with it...any ideas would be appriciated....

and since I'm now putting myself to sleep I'm going to end this before everyone else is to
happy new year everyone!
