I really should. It doesn't seem to matter that I have nothing earth-shaking to say. I'd just much rather blog than work. Colossal avoidance, I'd say. *G*
Can you tell me how it is that a man can sit and watch television when so much needs to be done around him? How can he ignore those dishes that need to be done, or clothes that need to be folded? I wonder if I have lost the ability to sit still and ignore what needs to be done around me?
I was talking with a friend today, and he told me he had made some signs for work. I said that might be what I needed. "PUT THAT SPOON IN THE DISHWASHER!" OR "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT LEAVING MUDDY FOOTPRINTS ON THE FLOOR!" Even my MOTHER thinks there are house elves to clean up after her. When did I become everyone's keeper? It's a job I don't want but I can't seem to get rid of it.
Do you think you reach a point in your life when you'd like to be able to take care of your own concerns first, or are we preoccupied from the git-go with our own issues? I'd like to be able to eat when I'm hungry rather than making meals at set times. I'd like to be able to get up and go to bed without having to justify my hours to someone else. I'd like to do things that I consider fun FIRST.....and maybe then, do the stuff that "needs" to be done.
Maybe I'm just getting to my second childhood. Who knows! (shrugging) If I start running with Tootsie Roll Pops in my mouth, stop me, huh??

ROFLMAO ~ tell me about it ~ I've been bitching about this since the day I said "I DO" the second go round ~ I'm still wondering if the people in this house have yet figured out how to actually hit the cloest hamper instead of using it as a basketball hoop and when missed ~ what does it bounce off the floor and into the hamper?? Obviously not since I'm picking up their boxers, shorts and other misc. items from the floor surrounding the hamper ~ and what about the damn toliet paper roll????? Does anyone BUT ME change the damn toliet paper or do they just not wipe??? I know they wipe because when I go to use the potty there is never any toliet paper on the roll *GGGRRRR* and I'm always changing it. If you find the answers Buff darlin' by all means share the wisdom!!!!

I'm with you Buffy, I've decided that sometimes I want to put ME first, and I just don't jump so fast for the rest of them.
Now... that soup of yours, I made it today - actually made a double of the recipe! So, I'll be freezing some in individual portions as only me and my middle son like it... but so I expected as it is so full of vegetables. VERY good 'diet' soup!

It's so much easier to clean as you go than let it all pile up. I can add my manly gripe to this because I share cooking duties with my lovely wife.
When she cooks: she uses every pot, pan, measuring cup, whisk and stirring spoon in the house. She then lets everything "soak" in the sink and lets the stovetop "cool" before wiping it down (three days later).
It's obviously not a male affliction (your mom suffering the same elf dellusion). It's a problem with being sloppy! We must rise up and teach others how to clean!

Jamie....I'm afraid it may take a lifetime to find the answers. :-(
Des...I'm caught somewhere between the older generation of women who believe that their husband and family come first, and that they should be cleaning house in a shirtwaist dress, heels and pearls.....and the newer generation, where your personal desires come first. I feel guilty just SAYING that I'd like to do my own thing, but the thought is there. Makes me feel a little schizophrenic some days! lol
I'm glad you tried the soup, and that you have at least one family member who also enjoys it. I'll have to post the French Onion Soup recipe, too.

yes yes! Please do post the Fr. Onion soup! I love Fr. Onion - but I fear it will be another soup that only me and my middle boy will enjoy. (the other guys like chicken noodle and that is about it!)

TT-B....gawd.....I gotta talk to WoT. She and I have a lot in common! I used to be one of those anal retentive homemakers who kept everything spotless and cleaned up as I went. NOW.....the dishes get put in the dishwasher the next day and the pots could wait a week or so! Hubby helps me with the cooking (if I ask), and he will rinse dishes. But he has never swept the floor, cleaned the counters or the sink, and he doesn't do pots and pans. He WILL dry dishes for me (if I ask). I think that I have grown lax because I resent the assumption that it is MY job to do the cleaning. We both work, and I have to care for my mother, so it would be nice to have someone else lend a hand without being asked. I guess I'm ON STRIKE!!
